Turn on saute mode, add oil, cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cloves, peppercorns, bay leaf. Saute for a 30 seconds. Add onion, saute for 1-2 minutes.
Add rinsed and drained rice, saute for a 1-2 minutes. Add green peas, garam masala powder, salt to taste, lemon juice.
Add 1-¼ cup of water, mix gently. Pressure cook on high for 6 minutes. Let pressure release naturally, around 10 minutes.
Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot. Enjoy!
Instructions for Stove Top Cooking:
On a high heat, in a pot, add oil, cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cloves, peppercorns, and bay leaf. Saute for a 30 seconds. Add onion, saute for 1-2 minutes.
Add rinsed and drained rice, saute for a 1-2 minutes. Add green peas, garam masala powder, salt to taste, lemon juice.
Add 2 cup of water, mix well. Bring it to a boil, reduce the heat to medium, cover and cook until all the liquid is almost absorbed, around 7-9 minutes.
Lower the heat to low, and cook further for 7-9 min. Turn off the heat. Allow standing time for around 10 min before serving.
Add cilantro, mix gently and serve hot. Enjoy!
Notes
This recipe can also be made using jasmine rice or long grain rice.
Adding lemon juice, prevents rice from sticking and you get nice and fluffy rice.
