CRISPY ONION FRITTERS / ONION PAKORAS

Ingredients
  

  • 1 large onion sliced lengthwise
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro chopped
  • 1 inch ginger chopped
  • 2 green chili chopped (add to taste)
  • ½ tablespoon red chili powder add to taste
  • ½ tablespoon turmeric powder
  • ½ tablespoon coriander seeds crushed
  • 1 teaspoon carom seeds/ajwain
  • cup chickpea flour/besan
  • ¼ cup water as needed
  • 3 tablespoon hot oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for shallow frying

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, mix all the ingredients for batter using water as needed. Gently squeeze the onions to release moisture. Consistency of batter is semi-thick.
  • Heat oil in a pan/kadai. Add 3 tablespoon of hot oil to the batter and mix well.
  • Lower the heat to medium, drop spoonful of batter, Fry for 3-4 min. Flip the fritters and fry on the other side for 3-4 min or until light golden brown. Fry the remaining fritters. Enjoy hot crispy fritters / onion pakoras with some hot tea!!
